Monday January 4th, 2010 23:02 Installing Windows 7 on Hp Mini 311

I bought the Win XP version and now I’d like to upgrade to 7. Do I need to download drivers and stuff? well i have read on a blog that the best way to test and experiment with Windows 7 is installed as a virtual machine that you just Dual Boot, as you instantly switch between two operating systems, while operating expenses Windows 7 (host OS) and Windows XP (host OS). Can i do so .Also will my ion work properly as its the LE version so it doesn’t support Dx10. And do I need more than the 1gb of ram?

Thanks

Great thing about Windows 7 is it will download your drivers for you if you have an internet connection. All you need for windows 7 to run effectively is 1 GB of RAM. I personally have Windows 7 installed on my Acer Aspire one net book (hackbook) and it runs brilliantly.

you would be wise to download the window update adviser, available from the Microsoft site. This will scan you PC and tell you what is wrong both software and hardware, also what version of 7 is best for your setup. then you can descide what is needed to upgrade to what version?

I bought the HP 311 and did a clean install of windows 7 home premium and it works flawlessly. I do have 3 GB of ram, but it is a nice machine with 3 gb of ram and win 7 loaded.
