I would not buy a laptop from a website named ubid. I would buy refurbished/returned/open box laptop from say Best Buy or some place like it. They will offer the same warranty as if it were brand new.
In any event, if you do buy from ubid…make sure you review the return process and or warranty.
Go with your instincts when it comes to buying things online. If the site seems a little… hinky… to you, don’t buy from them. Shop around until you find one you feel comfortable with. When I can’t find any better alternatives, I tend to use one who offers PayPal payments; that way you know your credit card information is safe, and if you have a problem with the seller, PayPal will help you resolve it.
I would trust a source such as Dell, Gateway, or HP directly, though. Buying a refurbished laptop from one of them means that it’s either a return, upgrade, or there was a serious malfunction, but that they’ve replaced the bad part and simply can’t sell it as new again (even though it carries the same warranty as a new one, and works fine).
