Notebook processor is typically a lower powered processor, than those in comparable desktop computers, although some manufacturers use the technology same as their desktop processors to give laptops a performance edge. Processors designed for laptop  generally consume less power and are thus exposed to cooler than desktop processors. This is important because the battery would last a long time. Desktop computers usually have a huge heat sinks and fans to cool, but it is difficult for the small things in notebook computers, and fans of notebook battery drain quickly.

Thermal Design Power or TDP. This gives the maximum amount of power that the processor cooling solution. Not always will dissipate the energy, but generally, if you want the CPU cooler, go to the lowest TDP get. Some users say that Celeron processors are not good to be used for intensive applications such as 3D games and other works but are very suitable for the average home user who just wants to just surf the Internet and browsing.

Functional properties distinct notebook-processors which include a number of things like, the cache and bus speeds and speed chip it contains. Mainstream processors are moving towards the two nuclei.
You can still use single core processors today, but there is better performer processor from Intel i.e dual-core, even if they are not large. The cache and the bus speed determines how fast the processor communicates . In addition to the characteristics of raw power, different cores have different options. For a good understanding of the performance you need to look professional or benchmarks for comparison with models of laptops. It is often difficult to do with laptops, because it is so easy to compensate for other parts of the test setup.

If you want the best performance, Intel is currently rules with the latest Core 2 Duo processors. With that said, if you want to negotiate, you can purchase a laptop with an older chip, Intel or AMD chip. For notebook users performance is usually not a big problem. If you want your notebook as your primary computer, and you have a number of multimedia and gaming application to be used then go for Dual Core Processors

Each manufacturer has there own dual core type processor – Core Duo & Duo 2 for Intel and Athlon 64 x 2 and Turion x 2 for AMD

Single Core processors

Intel = Centrino or Pentium 4

AMD = Athlon & Turion

It all depends on your budget

Core 2 duo. It’s the best on the market! :)

any mid to high-end core 2 runs great in a laptop right now. In fact, I bought one the other day (T7100 core 2) The core 2 uses a 65nm process compared to the older 90nm process. This means that the chip die holds smaller transistors. Smaller transistors = less energy = less heat = greater performance!

Intel Core 2 Duo. This is the fastest today. WHY? coz this processor can do half the work without lag. In short…..

“Let’s scan my computer and run photoshop while we wait.”

“Why is your computer not slowing fred?”

    “I dunno, lol”

“Silly! Thats an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor you got there!”

    *Slap in the face

    now, any questions?

If you want the best, you can get a quad core laptop. They are expensive, but the best made. You can also get sli graphics for an awesome picture. Check out the link.
Otherwise the core 2 Duo processors are the best. Don’t buy AMD. The cache size and speed in Core 2 duos is much better. The T7700 is the best laptop processor. 2.4Ghz. It is what Apple uses. Apples are the fastest laptops out. If you got $5000, get the quad core. Otherwise get an Apple.

The dual core processors are consider the best choice, Intel has a slight lead over AMD.
